Now that you have your braces, there are some foods you need to avoid. Hard foods, sugary foods, and sticky foods can cause damage to your braces, brackets, wires, and teeth.
Hard Foods to Avoid:
- raw carrots /apples (small pieces)
- hard bread or rolls
- pizza crust
- chips
- hard taco shells
- bagels
- corn on the cob
- hard candy
- nuts
Sticky Foods to Avoid:
- Fruit Roll Ups/ Gushers
- gum (sugar-free or regular)
- Twizzlers
- Starburst
- Tootsie Rolls
- gummy/ chewy candy
- Sugar Daddies
Minimize Sugary Foods like:
- ice cream
- candy bars
- candies
- syrup
- cake
- doughnuts
- cookies
Limit these items to once a day:
- Gatorade
- sugary drinks (Capri Sun)
- soda
- sweet tea
- Kool-Aid
- hot chocolate
